The heat produced by the thermal head of the thermal printer allows the ink layer to transfer to the label.In the case of thermal transfer, the printer's mechanism for imaging the label is a ribbon. A thin film that is wound on a roll and has a unique black coating on one side is referred to as a thermal transfer ribbon. Usually, a wax or resin composition is used to create this covering.A roll of translucent plastic (PE) film coated with coloured pigment, or "ink," usually black, on one side is what is known as a thermal transfer ribbon (although many colours are available). The coating can be created using wax, resin, or a combination of the two, depending on the printing specifications. The coated side of the thermal transfer ribbon is pressed up against the label surface as it passes past the thermal print head. Each dot generates heat energy, which causes the pigment to release from the carrier film and adhere to the label's surface.
The
print head's element dots are electronically heated and rapidly cooled by the
printer as the ribbon and label pass underneath them simultaneously. When the
ribbon, label, and printer are properly matched, speeds of 300 mm per second or
